"OUR" day

October 5, 2011, marks our 6th Anniversary. Dy invited me to have dinner either at  Dusit Thani or at New World Hotel. He didn't know that  i already made a reservation day before our anniversary at Chef Bruce Lim's CHEF'S TABLE.  I just said: Can we just dine at Chef's Table? Without any question, he drove me to The Fort, At CHEF'S TABLE. ;-)

The place was "WOW"! It was stylish in appearance. It makes the perfect spot for an enchanting evening.

The menu reflects the sort of items people expect but with a twist. You'll be excited to taste everything!
CHEF"S TABLE ICED TEA
I had this, never thought that iced tea would taste good with cucumber in it.
I don't like the smell of cucumber, for me it smells like an insect i was afraid of when i was a kid, but now i will definitely try this at home.

CRAB SALAD
Mixed greens tossed in shallot  vinaigrette topped with Mud Crab Meat, fresh fruits and vegetables
We started with this, we liked it... so tasty and yummy!!

KALDERETANG LAMB
Soft and tender lamb meat in kaldereta sauce on a bed of baked potatoes served with chili sauce on the side. T'was my first time to eat lamb meat, it was excellent!

TORTANG TALONG
Chef's Table's version of tortang talong enhanced with salted eggs
You can't go wrong with this talong! hehehe! Delicioso!

Happy Anniversary to my 1 & ONLY, I love you so much. YOU are my Everything!

I was so happy to see Chef Bruce again! He's warm welcome and always ready smile made our night extra special. We will surely be back!

Comida China De Manila throws Victory Party for the UP Pep Squad

Comida China de Manila, formerly known as Panciteria San Jacinto-Pasig and the metro’s favourite blow-out and celebration place, threw a victory party for the University of the Philippines Varsity Pep Squad recently.

Fresh from their triple victory in the recently held 2011 Samsung UAAP Cheerdance Competition, the UP Pep arrived 100-strong at the restaurant serving traditional Chinatown food, still sporting their sensational platinum blonde hair and peppy attitude.

The “UP Pep” was accompanied at the dinner by UP College of Human Kinetics Dean Leilani Gonzalo, former Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Grace Gregorio, head coach Lalaine (Coach Lala) Pereña and assistant coaches NJ Antonio and Pio Niño Opinaldo.
The UP Pep won first place in the prestigious Samsung Cheerdance Competition on September 17 in back-to-back fashion, now bringing their title total to 7, just one crown away from the University of Santo Tomas with 8. At the same competition, the UP Pep Squad took home all the other awards to be won : the first crown of the inaugural Samsung Group Stunts Competition and the Samsung Stunner of the Day title, care of “blonde” looker Nezsa Salvador.

The platinum blonde look was the peg for the Pep Squad’s Madonna-inspired number that was “crisp, athletic and creative, with trademark throws and athletic moves” that was pure UP Pep Squad.

Comida China, (owned by the Torres Family who also run Mom and Tina Bakery Cafe and the Red Rickshaw in San Fernando, Pampanga), pulled off all the stops in paying tribute to the back-to-back champs. “Such a significant achievement deserves to be celebrated with a full-course Chinese lauriat,” said Comida China de Manila president Benny V. Torres.
“We always strive for excellence in our food and service, that is why we salute the excellence that the UP Pep Squad showed in their performance last Saturday. Their commitment and discipline inspires us to always do our best in all that we do. We are happy to honor them with this dinner, as they honor us here with their presence,” said Benny Torres, who said the tradition of celebrating triumphs and victories invites more triumphs and victories.
After some sampling of cheers and lifts for the benefit of the media present, the UP Pep thanked everyone for their support and pledged to come back next year with something better than their best. They also invited everyone to support them in their next adventure : the 6th Cheerleading World Championship in Hong Kong on November 26-27 where the UP Pep Squad hopes to bring honor not just to UP but to the entire country.
“We hope the event will help introduce and recognize the Philippines more in international cheerleading events and showcase our Filipino cheerleaders as well.  It is truly an honor for us to be part of the very first Philippine cheering squad to represent our country in a world cheerleading event,” Coach Lala said.

Michelin Challenge Bibendum

Michelin calls for safe, clean and sustainable mobility at Challenge Bibendum;
Unveils exciting tire innovations and breakthrough technologies

"Clean, efficient travel and mobility are key to economic development and a safe environment worldwide." - the main message delivered at the recently held Challenge Bibendum 2011 in Berlin, Michelin Tires’ annual sustainable mobility event that brought together over 5,000 representatives from politics, business, industry, civil society, media and the scientific community from various parts of the world.

“The spirit of Challenge Bibendum is to demonstrate that the automobile has a lively capacity for progress and that the road transport sector has a bright future that will serve society well,” said Michel Rollier, Chief Executive Officer, Michelin.

Over five days, Challenge Bibendum participants, including those from the Philippines, discussed challenges and solutions for sustainable and safe road mobility, unveiling government and industry innovations for world markets that would not only be breakthrough-efficient but clean and helpful for the environment as well.

Companies, research institutes and main global automotive manufacturers presented their latest technologies at the Challenge Bibendum Technological Exhibition Center as global specialists took part in workshops that discussed how public and private organizations could contribute to road safety, among other things. Participants were able to do vehicle technical tests, go on car rally and ride and drive vehicles alongside engineers who developed the technological innovations.

Michelin unveiled exciting tire innovations and breakthrough technologies that use minimum materials to maximize overall efficiency in automobile and road transportation.

One such innovation is the Self-Repairing Tire that can be driven over nails without losing a single gram of pressure. Made with a unique rubber compound that immediately plugs holes in the tread, the tires differ from ordinary run-flat tires and continue to deliver all the regular functions of a fully functional tire such as safety, total mileage and fuel efficiency.

Also showcased at the 2011 Michelin Challenge Bibendum was a concept tire for trucks, specially developed by Michelin for heavy commercial use vehicles that can carry a load of 5 tons. The new tire -- not yet commercially released -- enables trucks to carry significantly heavier loads and also decrease fuel consumption by 20%.

Another innovation unveiled at 2011 Michelin Challenge Bibendum was the small 10-inch tire and wheel (175/70 R10) capable of delivering the same on-the-road performance as a regular 14-inch tire (175/65 R14) but can carry 15 % more weight. The small size makes this wheel take up less space and makes more room for interior space under the hood, inside the passenger compartment and in the truck.

Locally, Michelin Philippines will soon launch a new product for the Passenger Car range with not only the fuel saving mobility mantra of Challenge Bibendum, but 20% more mileage. According to Adam Storey, Michelin Philippines Chief Representative, “the new Michelin tire breakthrough will soon be available through local tire dealers and tire shops nationwide, and guarantees to be significantly more durable and more fuel efficient than its predecessor."
