As part of the National Book Development Board's Little Lit Fest, singer-songwriter-advocate Noel Cabangon enumerates how one becomes a good Filipino in the book Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino (I Am A Good Filipino), produce by Lampara Books.
Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino became a significant song during the last national elections as it challenged Filipinos to choose to fulfill their duties as good citizens of the country. The song lists the various good deeds and values that need to be cultivated within every individual to become a truly good Filipino. The words are perfectly captured through images by award winning illustrator-writer Jomike Tejido.
Over the years, Cabangon has established himself as a staunch supporter of various advocacies. In fact, he was recently named Peace Ambassador of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process. He also supports various organizations that promote development and understanding in the society. As a recording artist and a concert performer, on the other hand, Cabangon has released more than ten (10) albums and performed all over the world --France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Brazil, Kenya, Thailand and Hong Kong.
Tejido, on the other hand, list among his works Si Dindo Pundido (Golden Book Award 2002), Ang Pambihirang Sombrero, The Foldabots Toy Books and Tagu-Taguan (2010 Best Reads). He has held exhibits in Manila and Singapore where he established himself as one of the premiere artists specializing in acrylic painting on hand-woven mats (banig). His artworks in this book also comprise his seventh solo exhibition.
Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino is available in major bookstores nationwide.
